1.   You make contact

Once we have received an enquiry we look to make contact with you within 48 hours, this is usually by telephone, email or another method you have requested. Future will arrange to visit you to discuss your needs at a time and place that is convenient and comfortable for you.

At this time we may carry out a basic assessment of your housing requirements. Once all parties feel comfortable and confident and ready to move to the next stage, we will arrange a further visit, to complete a more detailed needs assessment which will help us to complete a full ‘housing specification.’

The ‘housing specification’ helps us to understand:

  • What type of house you want/need.
  • How big does it need to be?
  • What area would you like to live in?
  • Would you like to share accommodation?
  • Understanding where your friends and family are located.
  • Enabling us to take into account if you attend a day centre, college or any other activity that is important to you.

2.   Getting to know you

3.   Understanding your needs

Now that we have established where you want to live, what type of house/flat you want to live in and what money you are going to receive to help you to pay for your new home, we start to search for your new home. Using all the information you and those around you have told us.

4.   Looking for your home

  • We will identify a variety of homes that meet your needs
  • Propose a shortlist of potential properties
  • Arrange for you to view

5.   Choosing your home

Dependent upon the circumstances Future would normally invite your social worker or key worker to visit the property to ensure they feel it fits what you are looking for. If they are happy we would then invite your family to visit, we do this because they know you far better than we do, they will let us know the particular things that are important to you and important to them. If they are happy we ask you to view the property.
